Will my business be visible on Google?
As we are not partnered with any search engines, we cannot guarantee that you will appear in the top search engine results. But with complete business descriptions and also adding your business name in your description, with some relative keywords, we are sure it would appear in the search results.
Will my listing appear in your other cities in Nigeria?
Yes, as long as anyone is searching for your business or the services you offer from any place in Nigeria or even abroad, it will always show up. E.g., if your business is in Lagos, and someone from Port Harcourt searched for businesses in Lagos, your business would appear.
How do the listing packages work?
The listing package works based on personal preference. Most companies or businesses would prefer to just list only their business name, description, email, and phone number. While others would want to maximize their reach and dominate the market, adding products, services, and menus with extra other features.
The good thing about our packages is we do not have a limit on any of our packages. While most others would specify how many products or services you can add, how many images, or keywords, we don’t set limits.
How can I upgrade my listing if I start with Basic or Premium?
Our listing can only be upgraded by the admin at Yellowbook; we do not allow upgrades directly from users dashboards. However, you can also do that by listing your business again, but this time selecting the best package you prefer.
But if you would like to delete the old business listing and still retain the joined date and business URL to avoid a 404 not found error when users search from Google and need to find your business, use the Help Center for that.
Can I delete a bad review?
Unfortunately, you cannot delete your business reviews; however, you can contact the site administrator to request a deletion for you. Please use our Help & Support” section to request a removal. If the review is unfair, inappropriate, or damaging, we will do our best to remove it as soon as possible.
Can I cancel my membership and get a refund?
Unfortunately, no, you can’t get a refund, but you can decide to move the free package after your paid package has expired. Just note your listing features would be changed and removed from the listings.

Here are some practical tips for posting a business listing on YellowBooks.ng (a Nigerian business directory platform):

1. Choose the Right Category
Make sure your business is listed under the most relevant category. If your business fits into multiple categories (e.g., “Restaurant” and “Event Catering”), choose the first one that represents your core service and add 4 extra as secondary (5 recommended).
2. Use a Clear and Compelling Business Name
Avoid abbreviations unless they are widely known. Make it easy for people to find your brand when searching.
3. Add High-Quality Images
Upload clear, high-resolution photos of your logo, products, team, or physical location. Listings with photos get more views and build more trust.
4. Write a Strong Business Description
Use simple language to explain:

You can make use of ChatGPT to generate a compelling description about your business.
Include relevant keywords related to your business and the city your business is in that people might search for on Google and YB Local (e.g., “affordable catering in Abuja” or “cheap restaurant in Port Harcourt,” etc.).
5. Include Accurate Contact and Location Info
Double-check your phone number, email, and website. Use a full physical address and location pin if you are in your office or business place, especially for local businesses.
6. Update Your Business Hours
Let people know when you're open. If your hours change seasonally or on holidays, keep them current, and if you do not open on Saturdays and Sundays, do not update both days; this would automatically tell YB Local you are closed for the days.
7. Encourage Customer Reviews
Ask happy clients to leave a review on your YellowBooks listing. Good reviews improve visibility and credibility.
8. Add Links to Social Media and Website
Connect your Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn pages. Makes it easier for people to follow, message, or learn more.
9. Monitor and Improve Your Listing
Check how your listing performs (views and clicks). Update your description or images periodically to keep it fresh.
